Always hungry...
Hey everyone!! This email might be a little shorter than the others, but im a little short on time so thats ok! This week I got to my area finally. I am in Gandía, which is the area farthest south in the Barcelona mission! Also, its freezing.
Last Saturday, I had my last park day with Elder Kohlstrom and it was so fun and super cool to be able to go out and teach people with him. He is such a great guy. Also, today was the last day playing futbol at the pit which was sad and bittersweet. Im gonna miss all the elders and teachers. (and sisters)
Sunday was good, as always. It was very strange throughout the day, thinking that it was my last sunday in the mtc... it feels like it went by so fast. In our companionship inventory, Kohlstrom and i talked about how grateful we were to have been companions. I really am gonna miss that guy, he is so cool.
Monday. Today was weird and long. All the hermanas were super emotional. We had a lot of infield training sessions, which were good but i didnt really learn a lot honestly. From 4-6 we had to pack our bags and clean out rooms and classrooms which was soooo stressful. My mom will be proud that i tried my best to pack my bags how she showed me. I think it turned out ok haha! But.. its been 6 weeks and i still havent ironed a shirt.... someday i will. In the mtc we have had the opportunity to sing in russian, italian, portuguese, spanish, german, french and english. I am going to miss that so much.
Tuesday. Today was crazy and it was so weird to leave my roommates and dylan behind... I got up at 5 to catch a 545 bus and it still hasnt hit me that im gone. We had a long train ride to barcelona and then some orientation with the mission president and his wife. But then, tonight i went out with 2 companions to go teach and visit people which was sooooo weird. Honestly, i didnt say much and it kinda felt like they were trying to get rid of me the whole night but oh well.
Wednesday. Today i found out that my companion is Elder Hale and that my area is Gandía!! We took a 3 hour train to Gandía and our apartment is actually pretty big and nice.. i was surprised.
Thursday. These last few days have been crazy!! I feel really weird being away from dylan but i know that he will be doing good things in the Canary Islands. Today we taught 3 investigators and it was great! It was really cooll to finally get into the work. Also, when we taught a mother and her kid, i pictured my mom and it made me feel so much more love for the investigator and for the work. #loveyoumom
Friday we had our first district meeting which was cool! Then we went and got burgers after.. so good. This is short today because im tired and dont wanna write haha. Also, today we went and visited a woman who asked for a blessing. She then asked me to do it in SPANISH. Im pretty sure i butchered it, but oh well.
Saturday was pretty uneventful but for breakfast i had 2 pieces of toast, and since i was still hungry, i heated up 5 chips ahoy cookies and ate them. It was a wonderful meal.
Sunday was stake conference, which was good except the broadcast ended up not working so we just did testimony meeting instead. Somehow my comp convinced me to bear my testimony in spanish and i think i did ok.. only a couple members laughed at me.
Also, we had choir practice and one of the members brought his guitar and let me play it!! I was in heaven.
love you all and miss you!! I hope you have a great week!

EXCERPTS FROM FAMILY EMAIL:
Hey guys!!! How are you? I feel like its been so long since ive emailed... i miss you all so much. .... So as you know, my area is Gandía! It is the farthest south in the Barcelona mission. And there are actually palm trees everywhere, but dont let that fool you... it is so cold!! I had to break out my winter coat!! I dont think it would feel too bad, but our heater in our piso (apartment) has been broken. So we pretty much live in an icebox. Its rough. But dont worry today we got a new heater, so it should be better now. ....My trainers name is Elder Hale. He is great and super hard working so we get along pretty well. ...In our area, there are so many people who are very poor and dont have a lot to live with. Its crazy to see how some people live compared to America.
Anyways, I love you guys so much and hope you all have an amazing week!! Plus i heard dylan is in the Canary islands?? CRAZY DUDE
Love you,
Elder Johnson
